Seven years ago, we began this journey like you enter a new relationship: with excitement, a hint of nerves, and a strong conviction that we’d make a positive impact on people’s health and well-being.
The idea behind Prelib was simple, but ambitious: to make STI screening and sexual health prevention a natural reflex, just like any other wellness practice. To offer an inclusive space where people can take care of their sexual health with ease, without judgment or discomfort.
Today, as we celebrate our 7th anniversary, there’s one thing we wanted to do above all: say thank you. Thank you to everyone who booked an appointment, filled out an online questionnaire, visited one of our service points, or took their very first test with us. And thank you to those who come back regularly, making prevention a habit. You are the heart of our story.
Our mission, forever and always
Prelib was born from a simple belief: sexual health is health, period. Our mission is to:
- make testing simple, quick, and accessible to as many people as possible
- remove judgment from the equation
- offer pathways tailored to your needs
In practice, this means:
- online questionnaires, rather than in person
- flexible hours to fit work, school, and busy lives
- inclusive teams trained in sexual health
- clinics where you can ask any question without fear of judgment
We’ve always wanted Prelib to be a place where you can say, “I don’t know,” “I’m stressed,” “I’m embarrassed,” or “I’ve never been tested,” and simply hear: “You’re in the right place, we’re here for you.”
And as STIs rise in Quebec, particularly gonorrhea and syphilis, having access to simple, fast screening services has never been more important. At Prelib, we’re here to support you, without judgment, every step of the way.
7 years later: our impact in numbers
After 7 years, we wanted to share a few key figures, numbers that show what we’ve been building day by day to make prevention more accessible. In 7 years, Prelib has:
- plus de 1,5 million de tests conducted since 2018
- over 95,000 patients served in the past year accross Quebec
- about 80 infections detected and treated every week
- over 1,200 patients followed-up on PrEPto prevent HIV transmission
- 44% of patients are recurrent, returning to Prelib for regular testing
- 10 studies published and presented to the international scientific community
- 4 Dépistafests, in partnership with Club Sexu
Behind these numbers are simple, everyday actions: people booking an appointment between busy days, taking the time to understand, get reassurance, check in, and leave with useful information, clear answers, and, if needed, a follow-up plan.
One thing we’re especially proud of: for a large portion of our patients, Prelib provided their very first-ever STI test.That's exactly what our accessibility mission is all about.
When prevention is simple, fast, and judgment-free, we reach people who might never have come otherwise.

Accessibility
We believe testing should be easy for everyone. Every day, we work to keep our services simple, affordable, covered when possible, and available across multiple regions of Quebec.
Compassion
Sexual health is intimate. We get that. We train our teams to welcome each person as they are, with their story, identities, stress, and boundaries. Every visit is guided by respect, listening, and empathy.
Autonomy
We want our patients to understand what’s happening, why a test is recommended, what the results mean, and what options are available to them.
Innovation that serves reality
For us, technology is a tool, not the goal. Our platform, teleconsultations, and online pathways exist to remove barriers, save time, reduce unnecessary travel, and make follow-ups smoother.
Immense gratitude
Prelib wouldn’t exist today thanks to a motivated office team alone. It’s thanks to:

- the nurses, doctors, pharmacists, and support staff who make our clinics run every day
- community organizations that collaborate with us and help us reach the most vulnerable populations
- our healthcare partners who support us and are willing to do things differently to push prevention forward
- our administrative and tech teams, often behind the scenes, keeping everything running smoothly and improving the patient journey one click at a time
We say it often internally, but it bears repeating: beyond our tech platform, Prelib is first and foremost about deeply human services, delivered by committed professionals.
What we've learned from these 7 years
In 7 years, we have learned that:
- when we talk about sexual health with honesty and care, we gradually help normalize a topic that is still too often taboo
- when we simplify the process, people come
- when we remove judgment, conversations become genuine
- when we collaborate closely with public health services and community partners, our impact grows
We’ve also learned that prevention requires patience, perseverance, and a good deal of collaboration. What we have built is the result of a joint effort, a shared mission.
Moving forward, together
For the years ahead, there’s one thing we want above all: to continue expanding access to sexual health prevention across Quebec.
We want to test earlier and treat faster, reach even more people, especially those who have never felt seen by the system, and engage the healthcare network and community partners so that no one feels left behind.
